TOP DOWN SWEATER with Chris Dick                                     $64

Knit a beautiful pullover sweater you will treasure forever! 

Wear it with jeans or dress it up.  Make one for a special gift.

Skill Level:  Must be able to cast on, knit and purl.

Homework: Knit a 4 inch square in stockinette stitch using the yarn you have chosen 

                 and the required needle size to obtain the correct gauge as listed in the

                 pattern.  Bring swatch to first class still on the needles.

Materials:  Top Down Pattern - pullover

TOE UP SOCKS with Kathy Snyder                                          $64

Learn to knit socks nonstop from the toe up, using Judy’s Magic Cast-on. 

You will never have to guess at leg length, run out of yarn, or end up with

leftover yarn.  And no Kitchener stitch!

Skill level:  advanced beginner and up.

Materials:  sock yarn of your choice, about 400 yards

                   two 24” circular needles, size to match yarn label or

                   set of double point needles, size to match yarn label

Homework:  Work gauge swatch by casting on 20 sts and work in stockinette

                      stitch for 4”.       DO NOT CUT YARN.  Bring swatch to first class.  


CONTINENTAL KNITTING with Dee West                                 $16/class

Thursday March 18

2:00 - 4:00 pm

For those of you who have always wanted to learn the Continental Method

of knitting, this class is for you.  This class is designed for those who already

know how to knit the English (throwing, holding the yarn in the right hand)

way.  This 2 hour class will teach you a smooth, simple way to convert your

technique to the Continental style.  Class will focus on holding yarn and needle

in left hand, knit stitch, purl stitch, and if time permits, increasing/decreasing.

Skill level:            See description above

Suggested yarns:  Knitting worsted yarn in a smooth finish -- such as
                           Lamb's Pride, Cascade 220, or equivalent.  Wool is
                           preferred for its elasticity and ease of working

Needles:              Straight or circular needle US 9 (5.5 mm) or 10 (6 mm)

 

 

1940 VINTAGE KNITTED AFGHAN - A BLOCK A WEEK

This afghan is designed with 49 blocks in different knitting patterns

from the easy to the sublime. The blocks are bordered in single crochet,

then sewn or slip stitched together.

Skill Level:  Blocks require knowledge of knitting, purling, binding off, casting on.

                 While you may learn new skills, this is NOT a learn to knit class.
                 Future blocks will be more difficult, but we will build up to them.


Materials:   Knitting worsted, any type, all one color, or coordinating colors.
                 Suggested yarns - Malabrigo, Eco, Manos, Brown Sheep yarns,
                 Cascade 220 in regular or super wash, Eco Alpaca, or Noro

Knitting needles: Size 7, 8, or 9 depending on your yarn

Crochet hook:      Size D, E, or F depending on your yarn
                          - purchase when we get to the borders

Learn how to use Trendsetter's Cha-cha yarn to make

your lacy fingerless gloves the center of attention.

If you haven't worked in the round with two circular needles,

this is your chance, as this ribbon demands it!

Materials:  Cha-cha yarn, and a solid, light-colored yarn of your choice                

                Two 24" circular needles, size as called for on your yarn label

                 Scrap yarn in a color contrasting with your yarn

Homework:  Bring a gauge swatch to class, worked over 20 sts in

                  stockinette stitch with your non-Cha-cha yarn.  Do not cut yarn.

SUMMER SHAWL with Kathy Snyder                                         $48

Using a yummy cotton yarn and a gossamer mohair/silk yarn,

along with your own style, make a lovely summer shawl that

will also double as a snuggly winter scarf later in the year.

Skill level:  beginner

Materials:  200-400 yards cotton (bamboo, silk) yarn

                400-600 yards Douceur et Soie mohair/silk

                 US size 7 and 17 needles (single point or circulars)**
                 (size 17s should be metal or plastic, slippery!)

Make some great socks from washable cotton to wear for spring and

summer.  Add a lace pattern of your choice.or not!

Skill level:  experience with knitting in the round

Materials:  2 balls (300-500 yds) cotton yarn, lace weight to DK weight

                2 circulars or set of double point needles to suit yarn

                tapestry needle

                                             BALLS & SKEINS'S CLASS POLICIES

Class costs: $64 for four classes ($8/hour). Sign up is at Balls and Skeins. Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis. You may sign up via phone with a credit card.

Cancellation policy: more than 2 weeks before beginning of class, full refund given; under 2 weeks, no refund unless your space can be filled from the waiting list.

Class size: Minimum of 4 students to make a class go, unless teacher feels subject is appropriate for a smaller class. We keep the classes small to ensure individual attention is given to each knitter.

Waiting lists: Will be kept as before. You will be called or emailed if a spot opens.

Parking: Plenty of parking in the parking lot right out front.

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to scheduled class time so classes can start and end on time. If you are going to be late please call ahead
